Draped Bust Silver Dollars
Draped Bust Silver Dollars were issued from 1795 to 1804. The coins were designed by Robert Scot based on a drawing by artist Gilbert Stuart. The coins have a composition of 89.24% silver and 10.76% copper. All coins were minted at the Philadelphia Mint. Throughout the series, dozens of minor varieties exist.
One of the most famous coins ever struck is the 1804 Draped Bust Silver Dollar. No coins dated 1804 were struck that year, but thirty years later a small number of coins were struck with 1804 dated dies. Only 15 specimens exist.
