Draped Bust Large Cents

Draped Bust Large Cents were issued from 1796 to 1807. The designer of the coins was Robert Scot. The coins are composed of copper and have a large size diameter of 29 mm. During the early 19th century, the large size coins were widely used for small transactions even though at times it cost the US Mint more to produce the coins than their face value. Three varieties of reverses exist for the coins. The rarest date for the series is 1799.
