Draped Bust Half Dollars
Draped Bust Half Dollars were issued from 1796 to 1807. The designer of the coin was Robert Scot, based on a drawing by Gilbert Stuart. Coins are struck in 89.24% and have edge lettering reading "FIFTY CENTS OR HALF A DOLLAR." For the first two years of issue, there was a combined mintage of only 3,918 pieces. For the years 1801 to 1807, the reverse of the coin was changed to a Heraldic Eagle, mintages for the coins were also higher.
